Horseback riding in the Portuguese countryside
The south bank of the Dão river, upstream from Santa Comba Dão in central Portugal, provides a stunning environment for horseback trail riding. In spring and summer, when the water in the river is at its highest, we provide horse riding tours through the surrounding countryside, over hills and through valleys, always with scenic views of the river. At the end of the summer, fall and winter, the water level of the river drops and it is also possible to ride on the relatively flat river bank.

Our horses
We currently have four horses available:Negrita has been with us since 2002. She is our only mare, and is very fond of Piquet. She is very easy to ride when Piquet is around, but experienced riders will also find her to be a great horse to ride.
Piquet came to us in 2006. He is the leader of our horses, but even though he is very bossy to the other horses, he is very friendly to people and is easy to ride.
Pombal arrived in 2008, along with his great friend Marquês. More experienced riders will find him to be a great horse to ride.
Marquês is the smallest and most peaceful of the horses. Because of his small build, he is most suitable for children or light adults.
